What is TeamSpeak?

TeamSpeak is a voice communication software that lets your group of friends or team speak to each other via voice chat or send text messages in real-time. It's commonly used in online communities to communicate with other players and allows the creation of channels, has a complex server groups and permissions system, and also allows sharing of files. In addition, the upcoming TS6 version will also offer screen sharing. Servers can vary in size from 5 to 50, 100 or even 1500 players. It really depends on the size of the community and their needs.

How do me and my friends use TeamSpeak?

You can use TeamSpeak by downloading the app for your platform and connecting to a server. Client software is available for Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Once your team mates have also connected to the same server, you can start talking to each other. You can download the software on the official download page.

What games does it work with?

TeamSpeak is a completely separate application from the games you play and so will work with any game. It runs in the background while you are gaming.

How do I create a TeamSpeak server for my community?

Servers can either be self hosted or rented from an official TeamSpeak server host like us. Hosting TeamSpeak yourself requires a paid license and enough technical knowledge and time to setup and maintain. Pricing is based on the number of max players you need also known as 'slots'. The server-side software usually comes as a Docker TeamSpeak container and if you're not familiar with Docker, self hosting, you must choose a suitable VPS provider.

Alternatively, we would encourage you to rent from us. We've hosted thousands of TeamSpeak servers for over 15 years and as a specialist TeamSpeak provider, we have extensive experience and knowledge of the platform. Can you migrate my existing hosting?

Yes, we can migrate your existing hosting to our platform using a server snapshot, or if your old server is still running we can use that as well. Snapshots are a full TeamSpeak copy and include your groups, channels, permissions and so on. You can make one using tools like YatQA. Please contact us after ordering and we'll be happy to help you with the process.

Do you host TeamSpeak 3 or 6?

TeamSpeak.host is compatible with both the version 3 and 6 clients. Although, vVersion 3 is the older version, it is still widely used by many communities. Version 6 is the newer version and is still in beta. Our servers are compatible with both versions but we're waiting for the final release of the new server files in order to support features like screen sharing. This will be the case for all other hosts as well.

Do you offer a free TeamSpeak server?

Unfortunately, we don't offer free servers. We're a commercial company and need to make a profit to stay in business.
